I found this in my drafts from a year and a half ago! I figured I might as well publish it, even though it’s, um, a little out of date. I’m happy to report that the world did not end and so maybe folks will read this before it actually does.

2012For those of you that may not already be aware, the world will supposedly end on December 21, 2012.

It’s a Friday. Figures.

December 2012 has a couple interesting events – my birfday, of course – but in addition, there will be the last day where it’s the same day/month/year for another 1000 years (that of course being next Wednesday, which will be 12/12/12. The next one won’t happen until 12/12/3012. Knowledge. You’re welcome.)

December 21, 2012 has been identified as the end of the world, due to a variety of reasons, most of which have been debunked by NASA. You may be surprised to learn that the Mayan calendar DOES extend past 12/21/12, there is no planet called Nibiru or Planet X on a trajectory to hit Earth, and there are no blackouts, meteors, or planetary alignments threatening the continuation of humanity.

If it WERE the end of the world, though…it kind of sucks that it would be only 4 days before Christmas. Do you think I can use that as an excuse to avoid buying Christmas presents? I mean, if the world is going to end before I can give them to anyone, then what’s the point, right? Right?

Normally, I would say that the end of the world is the perfect time to quit your job and do all your bucket list items. The problem is that I’ve left it too long, and now there are only two or three weeks left, which isn’t enough time to do most of my bucket list items. For example, I don’t think I can backpack across Europe in only a weekend.

Running out of time seems to be an issue for me…seeing as this blog has taken me five days to put together, it seems as though I better get cracking on posting this if I want anyone to read it before the world is over.
