Well.

With the length of time I’ve been away from writing, you may have been tempted to think that something nefarious had happened to me. Fortunately, it’s just I’ve been busy. You know, trip to LA, packing, unpacking, laundry…and MORE laundry…and getting my passport for the first time since seventh grade.

Why?

Because I leave on MONDAY, for CANCUN, MEXICO.

Yes! With my passport in hand and everything straightened out, I feel like I can finally announce that I’m taking a trip to Cancun!

I’m super excited. My lovely cousin and her beautiful family live there, so I’m super excited to see them. I have a shopping list of stuff to bring with me even!

I’m not packed yet because I’m still planning my wardrobe. But it will be. Epic.

I haven’t been anywhere out of the country since 6th grade when I went to the Bahamas with my grandparents. This will be my first bona fide international vacation as an adult. An adult. Me. Seriously.

I’m. So. Excited.

I’m staying at a hotel called Beachscape Kin ha Villas and Suites.

I’m going with a friend of several years, whom I have yet to assign a code name. I’ll try to think of one before I leave.

I do have some worries.

  • I don’t like tequila. So I’m hoping there’s vodka there.
  • Mexican food is…not really my favorite. HOWEVER. I’m willing to concede that I’m sure I’ve never had real, live authentic Mexican food before. And I’m willing to try it.
  • Sixth grade Spanish was a loooooooong time ago.
  • The flight down there departs at SIX FIFTY-FIVE. IN THE MORNING. And the flight home leaves at EIGHT THIRTY. IN THE MORNING. And if that wasn’t enough waking up early in one week, the tour to the ruins leaves at 7:30 (you guessed it) in the morning. It’s like no one even ever heard of sleeping in.

It’s supposed to be warm, hopefully sunny sometimes, and the hotel is right on the beach. We also booked a tour to see some ruins which will be awesome. I have my red swimsuit, some brand new clothes, and my passport is burning a hole in my purse! Even though the picture is….not great.

I’m ready for an ADVENTURE!
