Sectional

Here’s another plan I used for my new patio furniture set. This is an outdoor sofa, which matches the Outdoor Coffee Table I made from this plan and the chairs I made from this plan.

I used this plan from Ana White as a base for the sofa, but added an additional rail to the back and sides. I found that when I used loose pillows on the sofa, they slid out the sides and back. With the additional rails, it works perfectly now! I also offset the top rail from the bottom rail across the back. I did this because it creates a little bit of a recline to the sofa back, so you’re not sitting bolt upright in the sofa. I can tell you from experience that it is pretty comfortable!

This sofa fits three 23″ to 24″ seat cushions. You can use loose pillows like I used here, or you can use square seat cushions, either will work.

This plan goes with another plan I will post shortly, which makes the sofa into a sectional. You can build the pieces separately and just place them next to each other or screw them together.

In my first plans post, I retyped out all the plans, which I found didn’t work well on mobile devices and you can’t view the pictures very well (not to mention it was a pain in the butt). In this post, I am just providing a link to the detailed plans below, which includes a lumber list, cut list, and cutting instructions.
