small wins and weight loss

Today’s post will be short and sweet. It’s 9 months in – like a whole pregnancy! I’ve lost almost 60 pounds and I feel like celebrating the small wins today. Why? Because celebrating small wins when you’re trying to lose weight can help you stay motivated! Also, I’m tired.

Let’s do this!

Pounds lost: 59.6

% to super goal: 47%

Doing the damn thing!

I’ve talked before about celebrating wins. The thing with celebrating wins when you’re trying to lose weight is that this process is looooooooooooooooooooooooooong. Seriously. Long. Getting the weight off and keeping it off is hard. It takes a lot of work and a lot of time. The change is so gradual, it’s hard to notice what’s different. This is why it’s important to celebrate the small wins – in addition to the big ones – as often as you can! Every little thing that is different, every little thing that helps you feel healthier, can be used to help you stay motivated and on track.

Small Wins Like…Crossing Your Legs

So this week, I’m celebrating being able to cross my legs.

I know. Boring.

But also: sooooo awesome!

Celebrating small wins can help you when you're trying to lose weight!

Seriously, though, crossing your legs is maybe one of those things that you do without thinking. Or, if you’re like me, something you haven’t been able to do for some time, but never really think about it. Until one day, you’re look down and realize that you’ve crossed your legs without thinking about it. And you’re comfortable!

It’s a big deal! When you can’t see the changes in your face as well as other people can, or your clothes aren’t yet the size you want them to be, little changes like this that seem so small are incredibly motivating. I posted this on Facebook and told my friends about it. Because to me, this is more real, tangible proof that I’m making progress. And I’m not imagining things!

So that’s all I wanted to share for today! Motivation doesn’t have to come from big, huge, enormous successes. There won’t be very many of those. There are way more little, small wins to celebrate. So don’t wait for the big huge successes to give yourself a pat on the back.

Over To You!

If you’re on your own get healthy/weight loss journey, what’s a small win you’ve had recently that helps you renew your motivation?
