ice-creamy goodness
As discussed, it’s freaking hot here. Ridiculously hot. I am so over it.
Also, as you may or may not know, BandGeek is diabetic.
These two seemingly-unrelated facts led to this purchase, which basically has helped to mitigate both problems:
That’s right. We’ve been having homemade, (mostly) sugar-free ice cream up in this house.
So far we made peach, chocolate chip mint, and cookies and cream (all three separate batches, thanks) flavors. It’s been a serious life saver! And so yummy.
In case you’re interested, it’s a Cuisinart ICE-30R Pure Indulgence ice cream maker. I’ve been using heavy cream, milk, and various ingredients.
I hear there’s easy pre-made bases you can get from the wholesale store, but I didn’t get that fancy.
Here’s the chocolate chip mint. Doesn’t it look delicious?
Before you say it, yes I know there is sugar in the whole milk. We also used semi-sweet chocolate chips. So it wasn’t really sugar free, but it was definitely sugar-reduced, and I think I can make it truly sugar free using Truvia, non-fat milk, heavy cream and sugar free chocolate chips. BandGeek wants me to try some peanut-butter-chocolate-chip, which sounds absolutely divine.
I’ll keep you posted!
