goal report - October 2019 - Revenge of the Geekster

I honestly can’t believe it’s the end of October and it’s already time for another goal report! On the one hand, it’s getting closer to Christmas, which I’m secretly passive-aggressively excited about. On the other hand, the end of the year has always been bitter-sweet for me, especially when I look back on all the things I intended to get done in a year and never did. Goal reports like this one are actually really great at getting me to recognize that I have gotten a lot of stuff accomplished!

So! This year it’s going to be a little different, because although I didn’t get everything done in October that I planned to per last month’s report, it was still pretty productive. Let’s get to it!

Meet my step goal (6,000 steps/day) at minimum 10 times in the month. FAILThis was such a fail this month! I need to step it up (get it, step it up? Get it?) in November, BIG TIME.
Cook dinner at least 5 times in the month. PASSI did it, but it was close.
Launch my Coffee, Grit and Inspiration podcastPASSI am SO PROUD of this one!
Add three videos to my Scrapbooks and Stuff YouTubeFAILI added two
Have an ending balance of $150 in savings by the end of the month.FAILUgh. I struggle so much with finances.
Have 10 no-spend days. PASSThis one is almost getting too easy but it’s a good thing! Going to up it again!
Make three sales through affiliate linksFAILEither I’m not picking the right links to share, or my audience isn’t big enough, or something.

October Takeaways

So October was an up-and-down month. I finally found out what was wrong with me (gallstones, in case you missed it), scheduled a surgery to get that fixed, had innumerable days where it was a struggle just to get out of bed, launched a podcast, launched ANOTHER YouTube, kept up with my blog posts on Coffee, Grit, and Inspiration, but completely neglected this blog and CursiveVerses.

  • One thing I learned in October is that I need to have my goals front-and-center in order to focus on them. I wrote these down here, but didn’t copy them into my journal so I wasn’t checking in on them daily! That’s a change I’ll make for November.
  • I suck at finances. I really do. This HAS to be a number-one focus for me in November and December, along with my step goals. I have a fancy spreadsheet which works really great…when I update it. In good news, we’re still on track to get our credit debt paid down, but lost a month due to MORE SNAFUS on my part in ensuring bills were paid before I bought Christmas presents. Yet another “live and learn” moment. Of several.
  • My podcast is launched! I’m so excited! Still minimal exposure, but it’s been so fun and I’ve really enjoyed it. I will be recording a couple episodes this weekend in order to schedule them in advance for when I’m out due to my surgery. One of them will even have a special guest! If you are a podcast listener, check it out! It’s on Spotify and iTunes, and I publish a transcript and show notes in addition to an embed of the episode in the CGInspo blog each week. New episodes on Wednesdays!
  • Along with that, I started publishing videos of the podcasts to the Coffee, Grit, and Inspiration YouTube channel! Again, not much action there yet, but I have hopes. This is why I didn’t get a third video posted to my Scrapbooks and Stuff channel though. I have a couple works-in-progress, but haven’t gotten them up yet.
  • Still trying hard to grow my reach and audience with CGInspo and Scrapbooks and Stuff. So far it’s been singularly time consuming…not to mention expensive. I made one affiliate sale (my first 56 cents!!), which was awesome. I’m not trying to be a millionaire, but if I could cover expenses that would be a great start. However! I feel comfortable with the feedback I’m getting, and ultimately, it’s about sharing things that are important to me, and I feel like I’m doing that. So I’ll keep trying.

November Goals

OK, going to keep pushing hard in November. Primary focus is steps and finances.

  • Meet my step goal (6,000 steps a day) at minimum TEN TIMES. It WILL HAPPEN!
  • Have $150 in savings at the end of the month.
  • Meet my November milestone weight loss goal of 54 lbs by 11/15/19.
  • Publish 3 videos to Scrapbooks and Stuff.
  • Publish at least two CursiveVerses posts.
  • Make 3 affiliate sales! I still have hope.
  • Meet timelines for my blogs and podcasts each week – 1 podcast episode each Wednesday, 1 CGInspo post each Monday, 2 newsletters, and the videos mentioned above for S&S!

That’s probably enough. We’ll see how I do!
